Steve Niss is a Founding Partner of the NFS Consulting Group and leads the firm’s Investment Management practice. He has been an executive search consultant for more than twenty years, serving a global client base of leading investment management and alternative investment organizations. Previously, Steve was with Fiderion Financial Services Group, where he built and expanded their presence within the investment management community.
Prior to his career in executive search, Steve enjoyed a twenty year career as a senior executive within global investment management organizations. As Managing Director of Creditanstalt Global Asset Management, he led the firm from start-up to a $1.2 billion asset, global, multi-product asset management group. Previously, Steve was
Director of Marketing for Posthorn Global Asset Management, an American Express London-based subsidiary which managed $4 billion assets in global/international investment portfolios for sophisticated institutional investors. Prior to Posthorn, Steve was the executive at Chase Manhattan Bank responsible for the Securities Lending and Institutional Custody businesses. Recruited to Chase in 1982 to rebuild the Securities Lending business after the loss of $280 million in the collapse of Drysdale Securities, he successfully rebuilt securities lending, assumed additional responsibility for institutional custody and grew those businesses to over $140 billion assets.
Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy, completed the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School and earned an MBA in Finance at New York University Stern School.
Greg Niss brings over 20 years of financial services and investment management experience to the role of
Consultant for the NFS Consulting Group. Prior to joining NFS in 2010, Greg was a consultant to the technology
hedge fund, Technology Focus Capital Management, where he made significant contributions with the Co- Founders in the development of macro-quantitative tools and processes for the highly systematic investment management strategy critical to the firm’s long/short equity product launch. Greg was previously a research associate at Cowen Company and was an instrumental member of the two-person, Technology Strategy team responsible for the rollout of Technology Focus – a bi-weekly publication providing institutional investors with thought-provoking and highly differentiated research.
Prior to Cowen, Greg held positions at two different independent research firms: he was a research associate
at CreditSights, Inc, covering technology strategy, fixed income strategy, and media/telecom; and at Palladian
Research, he was an equity research associate covering the industrials sector. Earlier in his career, Greg was also
a member of the quantitative investments team at UBS Global Asset Management where he provided investment
analysis for equity and fixed income funds and separate accounts. He has also held positions as an investment
consultant at BT Alex.Brown and PaineWebber.
Greg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Fairfield University and is a CFA charterholder.
